Drop Test / Transient Drop Test
Scope To evaluate the ability of a packaged product to withstand sudden shocks due to free fall drops within the distribution system.
Test Procedure
  • Raise package to height specified below table
  • Orient package so its center of gravity is over corner or edge being tested.
  • Allow package to free fall onto test surface.
  • When dropping onto a corner or edge, package must be allowed to rotate unrestricted onto a flat surface after initial impact.
Drop Test Drop Test
Evaluation After the test evaluates the test specimen and assemblies for noticeable deformations or cracks. In first phase two samples will be tested for all 10 mandatory drops and perform inspection for both after 10 drops. If any damage or failure is observed, then perform drop test of next samples one by one as per given sequence, inspect test specimen after each drop for any damage or failure.
Level of Acceptance / Success Criteria There should not be any permanent deformations of cracks on test specimens and the packaging should not have considerable damage.
All test specimens should pass the test.
